How many products can you juggle simultaneously?
Like it or not, some skin care companies say that we have to use multiple products (usually the company’s own brands) in order to experience the best possible results for our anti-aging needs. The typical regimen might include a cleanser, a toner, a cream and maybe even a facial mask. In some cases, you are also asked to use two different sets of products for day- and nighttime use. Should you go for such products, or are there better alternatives?
Natura Bisse is a brand of women’s anti-aging products that includes items like the Double Action Hydro Protective Day Cream. This formula is apparently based on Aloe Vera, Avocado Oil and other naturally derived ingredients. However, while this product may offer multiple sources of antioxidants (Avocado contains Vitamins A, D and E), I was surprised to see that a nighttime formula is also promoted by the company “for best results.” That means extra costs on our end.

Care to gauge how responsive previous users have been?
It may be difficult to tell whether a particular anti-aging product will be effective, without having a point of reference from which to evaluate the item. You want to check the list of ingredients obviously, but what else can you do? There are more options available to curious consumers today, such as official Web sites that post references to clinical studies as well as consumer testimonials. Through these user-submitted success stories, you get a better understanding of what your very own experience could be like.
Merle Norman Skin Care has a wide selection of skin care products for women, including anti-aging formulas. Some of these include the Luxiva Changing Skin Treatment, which may contain natural ingredients like Wild Yam and Soy. But the consumer response seems tepid at best. I have not been able to find any testimonials online that are compelling by any stretch of the imagination. This poses a problem for me, because I always check the success stories online before making purchasing decisions.

Retaining moisture in the skin to reduce blemishes
Rarely do you see a great anti-aging formula that contains proven anti-wrinkle aids but is missing a potent moisturizer. A good water-binding agent can go a long way to helping you meet your anti-aging needs, especially if you are dealing with wrinkles, fine lines, age spots and dark under-eye circles. A lack of moisture in the skin can really bring out these blemishes and, obviously, dry your skin out. That’s why I make sure to check my product for a good moisturizing component.
MeaningfulBeauty is a brand of women’s skin care products that includes items such as the Facial Masque, which appears to contain numerous naturally derived ingredients. These may include Macadamia Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, Cucumber Extract and Gingko Biloba Extract. But these are not special by any means, considering they can be found in most mainstream products. What is missing her is a proven moisturizer like Hyaluronic Acid, which is considered nature’s finest water-binding agent.

Is there such a thing as spending too much?
There are certain things in life you can’t put a price tag on, but I’m not sure that anti-aging skin care products is one of them. Granted that products in this industry tend to be expensive anyway, at least if you’re dealing with the higher-quality items, but I would be leery of spending in excess of $100 for any topical product. Many companies claim that their brand of luxury formulas contain the richest, purest ingredients, but you don’t need to spend $800 to meet your needs.
La Prairie is a luxury skin care company that markets products such as the Cellular Wrinkle Cream, which appears to be the company’s featured anti-aging formula. This particular product is supposed to contain “magnetically charged waters from the Alps,” but I suspect that this may be just a marketing ploy to pique interest in prospective buyers. The product doesn’t contain leading anti-aging ingredients like Matrixyl 3000, yet it costs around $120 per ounce.

Sometimes, going organic is overrated
I suppose it should be easier for Americans to watch what they eat, in terms of consuming whole, natural and organic foods, what with all the organic markets opening up all over the country. There are clear benefits to eating this way, but what about using organic skin care products for our anti-aging needs? Is this also a good thing to practice, or is it just a luxury for those of us who can afford to pay the extra money for these high-end products?
Jurlique is a company that claims to use only organically grown herbs in its anti-aging skin care products, which seems to be commendable. After all, nobody wants to deal with the side effects linked to chemicals, artificial ingredients and especially pharmaceutical-grade substances. And while the company’s products have not been tested on animals either, I am not that impressed with the ingredients used in the product formulas. I would much rather see proven anti-aging aids like Matrixyl 3000 and Argireline, no matter how organic these products are.

Sometimes, less is more
It is common to see anti-aging products that contain a large number of ingredients, as if having more ingredients would make a sub-par formula somehow superior. There are topical products based on just a handful of top-notch, natural ingredients that have been proven to work without causing any side effects. As such, I would be careful about using the formulas based on a whole bunch of components; this introduces a greater risk of exposure to allergens and other questionable substances.
Firmalift is a topical product that is supposed to help “smooth away the appearance of aging.” According to the company, the product is based on more than a dozen ingredients, some of which include Aloe Vera, Gotu Kola Extract, Chamomile, Collagen, Elastin and Silk Amino Acids. While the inclusion of Collagen is definitely nice — we need to replenish our Collagen sources as we age — I am not that impressed with the overall formulation. It’s as if the company was just throwing in a bunch of cheap fillers to compensate for an impotent formula.

The select group of top-quality anti-aging aids
The creme de la creme of anti-aging creams contain a select group of ingredients, including Collagen and Argireline, a hexapeptide that has been proven to help reduce the appearance of existing wrinkles as well as help delay the development of future wrinkles. Other ingredients that are considered high-quality options include Hyaluronic Acid and Matrixyl 3000. You may see a number of products that include one or even two of these ingredients, but the best ones seem to contain all of them.
Epionce is a company that markets topical products such as the Renewal Facial Cream, which appears to be the company’s featured anti-aging formula. It is supposed to be based on natural ingredients like Avocado, Apple Fruit Extract and Rose Hip. While it’s good that these are naturally derived, they are not really great options for long-term anti-aging support. The company does not seem to have a formula based on some of the superior ingredients mentioned above, unfortunately.

Would you sacrifice quality to save a few bucks?
When times get tough, you may be tempted to pinch the pennies on purchases. When it comes to meeting your anti-aging needs, however, you might as well purchase the high-quality products; the low end is glutted with less-than-promising items that will be cheaper but which will probably be ineffective. You can go to the local drugstore or pharmacy and pick up a cleanser, lotion or topical cream for $10 to $20, but you will get exactly what you pay for.
The thing is that you don’t have to spend tons of money to get a quality product. Great anti-aging creams are available for around $80, an investment that will pay off as you experience a reduction in wrinkles, fine lines, under-eye circles and more. This beats spending hundreds of dollars on BOTOX injections and other clinical treatments. So, instead of going for cheaper alternatives like the Dior Capture R60 80 brand of anti-aging products, I would aim a little higher.

Exclusive offers and perks from top companies
While many skin care companies choose to charge ridiculous prices for pedestrian anti-aging skin care products, there are a select few companies that offer high-quality anti-aging formulas along with exclusive offers. For instance, some of the most reputable companies offer free samples, money-back guarantees, auto-ship programs, discounts on bulk orders and other benefits. You probably can’t take advantage of such offers from brick-and-mortar retailers, so make sure to check online.
A company called Derma E Skin Care has an extensive line of anti-aging products on the market, including products like the Peptides Plus Double Action Wrinkle Reverse Cream. This product is supposed to contain both Matrixyl 3000 and Argireline, both of which are considered superior anti-aging aids. However, I don’t see other leaders in the industry such as Hyaluronic Acid or real Collagen. Additionally, I am disappointed by the lack of offers such as auto-ship programs and free trials.

Tracking the testimonials for more perspective
One tried-and-true way to get a better understanding of what to expect from an anti-aging skin care product is to check out what previous users are saying about their experiences with the product. Not all companies do this, but you can visit some products’ official Web sites and look at some compelling success stories submitted from actual users. This way, you get a sense of what you should expect when you purchase the product and begin incorporating it into your regimen.
A line of anti-aging products called Danne Montague King claims to have the best formulas on the market for women seeking younger-looking skin. The products include ingredients such as Birchbark Extract, Soybean and White Oak Bark, all of which may be found in other skin care products but which are not really considered superior anti-aging aids. One of the disappointments with this brand is that there seems to be a lack of success stories posted online. I would like to read what others are saying.
